How MAMMA began

One month on were holding another vigil in Warrington for Jonathan Ball and Tim Parry who were murdered by the IRA. A bomb had been planted in a bin in Warrington Town Centre the day before Mother’s Day. 3-year-old Jonathan took the full force of the blast, which killed him instantly, 12-year-old Tim died five days later on 25th March.

There was a huge amount of press coverage nationwide which generated more interest in MAMAA. For many weeks afterwards we were inundated with invitations to speak all over the UK and Eire. We attended peace rallies in London and Dublin which were attended by hundreds of thousands of people who were shocked and horrified that two ten year old boys had been responsible for murdering James and that two young lives were taken during what had been an ordinary Saturday and turned into a life sentence for the families of Jonathan and Tim.
