How MAMMA evolved

We believed that the first few cases of injustice that we heard about were isolated. As we spoke with more and more people, with substantial evidence that proved injustice, we soon came to realise that it was the norm.

In our ignorance we assumed that there were organisations that were set up to help the victims’ families. We thought that someone stepped in and took over, helped them to deal with practical issues, gave them information and generally took care of them.

We were horrified to find out that there was actually nothing of the sort. In fact the only help and support came from other families who had been traumatised by a murder in their family. We decided that we would campaign for justice and do whatever we could to help in any way we could.

MAMAA is now in contact with over 400 families nationwide.
