TAKE KNIVES OFF OUR STREETS

Some friends and I are launching a campaign to try & reduce the number of knives being carried on the streets. We want the police to have carte blanche to stop & search & anyone carrying a knife without a very good reason is imprisoned for 3 years. How else can we stop this ever-increasing problem? Every 24 minutes someone is knifed in this country. If they have nothing to hide they have nothing to fear. Can we have your support on this please and of course your comments are needed.

What we hope is to have 10,000 supporters -either in letters or people who can sign our petition, which will be ready by the weekend. . We then hope to deliver this via a march to Downing Street towards the end of the year when London is quieter. We have called it Take Knives Off Our Streets. In Scotland between 4th Dec and 31 Dec 2006, a one off stop & search removed 236 knives & 182 other weapons & that was just in 27 days - just think what the police could remove if this was on-going.
